Petit Planet's Special NPCs: Nalo, Aleo, Riff & Goodman
Who the special Petit Planet NPCs are, where to find them, and what is actually confirmed about their AI-driven dialogue.
In this guide
Petit Planet has a small cast of special characters who are not neighbors. They run shops, minigames and social spaces in the Galactic Bazaar. Four names come up often: Nalo, Aleo, Riff and Goodman.
The roles are documented. The “AI” label is where the reporting gets ahead of the official material, so this page separates the two.
The confirmed roles
| Character | Where | Role |
|---|---|---|
| Nalo | Cafe Untamed, Galactic Bazaar | Shop NPC and conversational character |
| Aleo | Galactic Bazaar | Special character associated with Bazaar minigames |
| Goodman | Notice board, Galactic Bazaar | Guides players, answers questions, wanders and takes photos |
| Riff | Galactic Bazaar (reported) | Named in community coverage; we could not verify a public profile |
Nalo
Nalo runs the shop at Cafe Untamed in the Galactic Bazaar. The official Coziness Test shutdown notice specifically mentions Nalo retaining memories of conversations if the player opts in. That is a strong indication that Nalo is designed for persistent, personal dialogue rather than a fixed shop script.
Goodman
Goodman stands near the notice board at the Galactic Bazaar. He helps guide players by answering questions, wanders around the Bazaar, and occasionally takes photos of players to post on the notice board. He is the closest thing the game has to an in-world help desk with a personality.
Aleo
Aleo is a special character at the Galactic Bazaar. The Bazaar Jelly currency page ties Aleo’s minigames to Bazaar Jelly rewards, which makes Aleo the minigame host.
Riff
Riff appears in community coverage of the special NPCs, but we could not verify a dedicated public profile in the sources reviewed. We list the name and mark it as unverified rather than inventing a role.
The AI question
Community coverage and player reports describe Nalo, Goodman and the other special characters as AI-driven NPCs with dynamic dialogue. Some players also report an in-game setting to turn AI interactions off.
HoYoverse’s public materials reviewed for this guide do not provide a technical explanation of the dialogue system. The official shutdown notice does confirm that Nalo can retain conversation memory with consent, which is consistent with a persistent dialogue system but is not the same as confirming a specific model or vendor.
Our position:
- Confirmed: the characters exist, have roles, and Nalo can retain conversation memory with consent.
- Reported: the dialogue is AI-generated and can be disabled in settings.
- Unconfirmed: the model, data handling, and whether every special character uses the same system.
Privacy note: if you talk to Nalo or another special character, assume the conversation may be stored to support memory. The Coziness Test notice explicitly described an opt-in retention process. Check the in-game privacy settings and the official privacy policy before sharing personal information.
Where to find them
All four are associated with the Galactic Bazaar, the social hub. Nalo is in Cafe Untamed; Goodman is near the notice board; Aleo is tied to the minigames. The Bazaar is also where Bazaar Jelly is earned and spent.
What to ask them
Goodman is the practical one: ask about systems, directions or current events. Nalo is the character one: the café conversations are the point. Aleo is for minigames and Bazaar Jelly. Do not treat them as quest-givers with a fixed reward table; their value is the interaction.
What is still unknown
- Whether Riff is a launch character.
- Whether the AI dialogue system is identical at launch.
- What data is retained by default versus opt-in.
- Whether the “turn off AI interactions” setting is available in every region.
We will update this page when HoYoverse publishes more detail.
