Petit Planet is HoYoverse’s take on the cozy life sim. Instead of a fixed village, you get a small planet of your own and a whole sky of other places to visit. The game is built around slow, real-time progress: crops take time to grow, shops rotate daily, and neighbors remember whether you showed up with a gift they actually like.

The official tagline is “Meet Where the Stars Bloom.” The Chinese name is 星布谷地 (Xīng bùgǔ dì); the Japanese name is プチプラネット and the Korean name is 쁘띠플래닛. Outside China, the publisher is HoYoverse, the global brand of miHoYo’s subsidiary Cognosphere.

Short version: Animal Crossing’s cozy planet routine, a decorating sandbox, a collection database, and a social layer for visiting other people’s worlds — without a combat meta.

Grow a planet

Unlock beach, farmland, mountain and weather through the Luca Arbor. Farm plots, fruit trees, flowers and a real day/night cycle make the planet feel lived in.

Build and decorate

Place furniture inside and outside, upgrade your house, and decorate neighbor homes through Homi Decor at Bond 6.

Meet neighbors

Collect animal neighbors, learn their birthdays and gift preferences, and unlock small talents that help around the planet.

Cook and craft

Turn crops and creature catches into dishes, and craft furniture at a DIY Bench. Recipes use kitchenware such as a cooking pot, oven or blender.

Sail the Starsea

Take voyages to islets, meet new neighbors, catch region-specific creatures and bring materials home.

Collect everything

The Omnidex tracks creatures; the Omni-Gallery displays them. Folio Score tiers add another long-term collection goal.

Seventeen neighbors are known in the Final Beta data. Five are base neighbors who settle through the main story and do not use neighbor capacity: Mobai, Elsasani, Glenn, Mors and Trixie. The other twelve are invite neighbors with bond profiles, loved gifts and a house.

Inviting a neighbor is a two-encounter process. You first meet them on a specific encounter islet during a Starsea Voyage. After the second meeting they can visit your planet, complete a short quest, and ask to settle if you have capacity. Once they move in, chatting, gifting and dinners raise bond; higher bond levels unlock talents and Homi Decor requests.

The Starsea is the space between planets. Voyages take you to islets in different galaxies, each with its own terrain, climate and creature pool. Four galaxies are known: Hexia (verdant plains), Taffeh (golden prairies), Norvan and Pashah. Official terrain details for the latter two are still limited.

The main progression tree is the Luca Arbor, a 40-level planet tree. Upgrading it costs Luca and Lucasprout, and each level adds farm plots, Luca Fruit slots, neighbor capacity, weather, new terrain or a cosmetic biome. In the Final Beta it cost 960 Luca to fully upgrade; individual level costs range from 20 to 50 Luca and 10 to 60 Lucasprout.

Around that spine sit several soft goals: house rating, Omni-Gallery collection, Folio Score tiers, neighbor bond levels and the daily Footprint checklist. Dough is the everyday spending currency; Footprint and Miraprint are earned through tasks and spent at Loomix Mart and Curio Emporium.

Petit Planet is marketed around social features. Players can visit other Planet Tenders’ planets, and the Final Beta included privacy controls for visits. The official beta FAQ also confirms that, with the same HoYoverse account, game data carries over between PC and mobile.

What is not confirmed: the exact launch-day multiplayer feature set, whether every social activity is available at launch, and whether cross-play is limited by region or platform. We keep those questions open rather than guessing. See the multiplayer guide for the confirmed/reported split.

The Final Beta was a limited-access, data-wipe test with no in-game purchases. All test progress was deleted when the servers closed. That means every screenshot, tier list and database value from the beta is a snapshot, not a guarantee of launch balance.

Confirmed

  • Global launch on December 4, 2026.
  • PC (Windows), iOS and Android.
  • Free to play.
  • Data carries between PC and mobile with the same HoYoverse account.
  • Neighbors, farming, cooking, decorating, collection and Starsea Voyages are core systems.

Still unknown

  • The exact launch hour and pre-load time.
  • Final PC, iOS and Android requirements.
  • Launch monetization and battle-pass details.
  • Whether every beta neighbor returns at launch.
  • The full launch-day multiplayer feature set.
Is Petit Planet an MMO?

No. It is a life sim with social features, not a persistent open-world MMO. You visit other planets and interact, but the core loop is your own planet.

Is Petit Planet on Steam?

No Steam version has been announced. PC players can use HoYoPlay or the Epic Games Store listing linked from the official site.

Does it have gacha?

The Final Beta included a “Starsea Call” system with published probability details. HoYoverse has not published full launch monetization details, so we do not describe it as gacha-based or non-gacha until that is confirmed.

How big is the game?

The Final Beta recommended 18 GB free on PC, 10 GB on iOS and 12 GB on Android. These are test recommendations, not final launch requirements.
