Petit Planet Beginner's Guide: Your First Week in the Starsea

A practical first-week route for Petit Planet: what to unlock, which neighbors to meet, how to spend Luca, and the daily loop that keeps your planet growing.

Petit Planet is not a race. The first week is about building a loop you can keep, not squeezing every drop of progress out of the day. This guide follows the Final Beta’s actual pacing and marks the places where launch may differ.

Before you start: the Final Beta wiped all progress on October 19, 2026. Nothing you did in the test carries over. This guide is for a fresh launch planet.

The first 30 minutes

  1. Finish the opening story. It introduces Mobai, the planet, and the Luca Arbor. Do not skip dialogue that explains a system; the game rarely repeats it.
  2. Open the Luca Arbor menu. You want to see the level 2 requirement early. Farming is the first real expansion.
  3. Place your first furniture. Even a bed and a light make the house feel like yours and introduce the placement controls.
  4. Walk the shoreline. Beachcombing is free progress and teaches the gathering loop before you have tools.
  5. Catch one creature. The first catch opens the Omnidex and shows how the collection layer works.

Do not spend Dough in the first shop rotation unless the item is something you will use immediately. The stock changes daily; your first week’s Dough is better spent on a house upgrade or a tool you have actually unlocked.

The first day loop

A comfortable first-day route in the Final Beta:

  • Talk to Mobai and any neighbor on the planet.
  • Check the Luca Arbor and bank any Luca you have.
  • Water and plant on the plots you have.
  • Forage the beach and the immediate area.
  • Catch one or two creatures for the Omnidex.
  • Cook one simple dish if you have the kitchenware.
  • Check Glenn’s Goods before the daily reset.
  • End the day by talking to anyone you missed.

You do not need to do all of this every day. The point is to establish the order so you are not wandering.

The first week priorities

1. Farming first

Luca Arbor level 2 unlocks farming, and level 3 adds four plots. This is the best early investment because crops feed cooking, gifts and Dough. Do not chase cosmetic Luca Fruit slots before your farm is running.

2. Meet the neighbors who help

Yunguo is the obvious first target: her Bond 5 talent waters crops, and her Bond 8 talent adds a Crop Garden. Isaki is a strong early voyage companion if you like bug-catching. The exact order depends on which encounter islets appear, so check the neighbor database rather than forcing a route.

3. Build one good gift habit

Pick one neighbor and give a loved gift every day. One reliable bond stream is better than five neglected neighbors. Use the gift finder to avoid guessing.

4. Unlock the tools you actually use

The Fishing Rod, Insect Net and Shellfish Tongs each open a different collection pool. Unlock the one that matches the creatures you enjoy, then branch out. The creature database shows what is waiting in each pool.

5. Take one voyage

Do not wait until your planet is “finished.” Voyages are where new neighbors, islet creatures and materials come from. Even a short trip teaches the loop and may introduce a neighbor you can invite later.

What to spend first

Resource First priority Avoid
Luca Luca Arbor level 2–3 (farming) Cosmetic slots
Lucasprout Save for the next Arbor milestone Converting everything into Sea Whistles
Dough House upgrade or a tool you need Rotating shop items you will not use
Footprint / Loomi A Loomix Mart item you will wear Spending on duplicates
Bazaar Jelly Prize Kiosk items inside the Bazaar Hoarding it for later

The currencies guide explains the full economy.

The 20-minute daily routine

If you only have twenty minutes:

  1. Talk to one neighbor and give a gift.
  2. Water and harvest crops.
  3. Check the shop rotation.
  4. Catch the creatures active at the current time and weather.
  5. Complete one Footprint task.

That is enough to make progress without turning the game into a job. The daily checklist tool saves the list in your browser.

Five mistakes to avoid

  • Spending Dough on every rotating item. Glenn’s Goods is a rotation, not a clearance sale.
  • Ignoring gifts because you are busy. Bond is time-gated; a missed day cannot be fully recovered.
  • Hoarding Lucasprout. The Arbor is permanent progression. Sitting on sprouts does nothing.
  • Skipping the second encounter. A neighbor only becomes invitable after the second meeting.
  • Treating beta tier lists as launch truth. Balance and availability can change on December 4.

What is still unknown

The launch build may change costs, neighbor availability, shop rotations and the exact onboarding flow. We update the pages when official information changes, and we keep the beta snapshot date visible. If something is missing, it is missing on purpose rather than invented.
